From April 25-28, Printed Matter will return to 548 West to present the 2024 NY Art Book Fair.
Printed Matter’s NY Art Book Fair (NYABF) is the leading international event for the distribution of artists’ books, celebrating contemporary artists’ publishing and the medium’s rich history. The Fair is located right around the corner from Printed Matter’s bookstore and will feature a broad range of artists and collectives, small presses, institutions, galleries, antiquarian booksellers, and distributors.
Initiated in 2006, NYABF is an important gathering for artists’ book publishers to distribute their work, connect with broad audiences, and nurture new and longstanding relationships. This year, NYABF continues to be a vital platform for exhibitors and programs that are rooted in critical reflection, community, and free expression. The Fair offers visitors a unique experience to discover artists’ books and explore the full breadth of art publishing, with many artists responding directly to today’s challenging political and social landscape. As part of this year’s event, we are looking forward to partnering with neighboring organizations and galleries to present the full calendar of discussions, performances, book launches, and special projects that highlight interdisciplinary publishing practices.
Printed Matter, Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1976 by artists and art workers with the mission to foster the distribution, understanding, and appreciation of artists' books and related artists' publications. Through the NY and LA Art Book Fairs, two storefronts, an online catalog, and other distribution channels, Printed Matter circulates more than 45,000 publications annually on behalf of artists and independent publishers. Printed Matter also offers comprehensive free public programming, online resources, and educational initiatives for the medium.
